Are you into what’s popular? Want to see yachts in 3D Virtual Reality?

CATAMARANS offer the thrill of sailing combined with nearly the speed of a power yacht. This category boasts the largest number of the newest yachts. They have exceptionally large deck areas and their dual hulls offer very private, equal accommodations. Since they have very shallow drafts, they are able to anchor close to the beach. They are perfect for easy access into and out of the water as a swimming or diving platform.

Are you a SAILBOAT traditionalist? Nothing compares to skimming across calm turquoise colored water under crisp white sails. You needn’t worry if you’ve never sailed before, as your professional crew takes care of all the details of handling the yacht. You can choose to join in with the raising the sails or simply sit & enjoy the wonderful experience! Charter sailing yachts have large cockpits where you can lounge, read, chat with friends, and enjoy meals in the Caribbean breeze. An awning provides protection from the sun, while the foredeck is a great place for sunbathing. Belowdecks you will find an airy main salon and dining area as well as large guest cabins with private bathrooms. Crew cabins will be separate from guest accommodations.

Power MOTOR YACHTS travel faster than sailboats, so it is possible to spend more time anchored and still get to all the ports you wish to visit. Because power yachts’ hulls tend to be beamier and less tapered, they have more spacious accommodations than do sailboats of comparable size. With the smallest amount of available options, book early to secure the motor yacht of your choice.

While our personal favorite is the USVI & British Virgin Islands, YachtCharters.Guru has direct experience from 18 years of working aboard a private charter yacht based in the Virgin Islands and sailing the Caribbean waters of St. Martin, St Barts, Anguilla, Antigua, Grenadines, and down island. There are many beautiful locations to charter a yacht.  What is considered ideal are areas where there are island chains without long open ocean passages that are comfortable to sail in within 8 days/ 7nights with plenty to see and enjoy of the tropical paradise.  With temperatures averaging around a balmy 70-85 degrees, day and night, the Caribbean Sea offers warmth year around and lovely trade winds and perfect sailing conditions.

Known as the “Sailing Capital of the World”, the Virgin Islands are the prime sailing destination, followed by the next chain called the Leeward Islands of St. Maarten, St. Barths and Anguilla, and Antigua and Barbuda.  A bit off the beaten track, but wonderful islands to explore are Saba, St. Eustatius and St. Kitts & Nevis.

Further into the Eastern Caribbean are other French, Dutch and independent islands that are lesser known for chartering, but those that have sailed the main cruising areas might want the added adventure of sailing around French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinque or the eco tourists dream island of Dominica.

What to Expect

In the Caribbean, charters typically run from 12 noon to 12 noon for 8 days, 7 nights. They can start on any day of the week. Charters less than 7 nights can be arranged, but typically there will be a 10% surcharge.

Included in your luxury charter along with your accommodation, are water sports and other on board activities. The yacht comes with a professional Captain and Chef with all meals, drinks, standard spirits and wine, snacks, permits, and running expenses of the yacht.

Not included is a recommended crew gratuity of 15-20% of your charter fee. Also not included are special services, additional dockage, communications and premium liquor and wine requests.
